Footwear Design Development Institute (FDDI)

In our endeavor to infuse a contemporary essence into the classic Nizam architecture, our design approach was characterized by inclusivity rather than grandiosity, aligning with the spirit of the times.

This sense of inclusivity was brought to life by thoughtfully framing the building’s entrance and creating an auditorium as a focal point, around which the entire structure embraces. These design elements serve as welcoming gestures, making the building approachable and accessible to all.

To enhance the user experience, we introduced a layering of multi-format spaces across the building’s various floors, interconnected by a series of free-flowing experiential areas that seamlessly extend into the ground plane and the building’s façade.

Drawing inspiration from vernacular architecture, we adorned the façade with Gwalior stone and sandstone. These materials accentuate the building’s curtain walls, resulting in a captivating interplay of light and shadow, an intriguing blend of openness and privacy, and a harmonious balance between exposure and moments of respite across the entire space. This design philosophy breathes new life into a classic setting, making it not only visually engaging but also functionally appealing and inviting.
